World Youth Meeting

Pope Benedict XVI says that the without the face of the Youth, the church will look disfigured. Youth are a vibrant force in the Church. They are the future of the Church. We relive this moment periodically every three years through the WORLD YOUTH MEETING….
Pope John Paul II announced the institution of World Youth Day in December 1985 as an annual gathering of youth and young adults for prayer, worship and celebration of the Catholic faith. The event is observed annually in dioceses and every three years at an international gathering.

The Purpose of World Youth Day is threefold

1. Putting Trust in the Young…

World Youth Day is a coming together of young adults from the four corners of the world and a strong reminder of the strength and confidence, the young bring to the Church today.

2. Gathering Together

World Youth Day is not simply a gathering for the young people of the world, but a time to put trust in the world’s youth. A calling for the world’s youth to come together as one people.

3. Meeting the International World on a Human Level

it is still a marvel in this the 21st Century to exchange with others and to be a part of an international experience. International events are able to stir much hope but also many fears (increase in fundamentalism, nationalism and other new conflicts. . .) The Church and Christians themselves have a role to play in preventing the development of these fears, and in aiding each person in finding their way and discovering hope.

The Commission for Youth will initiate ways and means to take youth from different regions to partner with the Universal Church. Thru this initiative, the Youth in India will realize that-
1. They are the future of the Church
2. They have a role to transform the Church and the World
3. Together they can achieve the impossible in the world

International Outreach Program

Youth in both the developed and the developing world are the future leaders, who will take forward the work of transforming the world in justice. They have ideas and commitment, they have dedication and passion and most important of all they have the determination for changing the present state of affairs…

Through outreach programs, Youth Commission hopes to engage young people in ideas, debate and action to address issues in the field of Faith, culture and Justice. We believe that by enhancing their knowledge and capacity in the global context, we will be able to inbuild the following
1.To enable young Indian youth to understand the mind-set, faith and life of young people and their culture in another country
2. To enable foreign youth to expose themselves to faith & culture in India
3. To bring about a global culture and faith enrichment among the Youth
4. To develop global leadership capacity
