The whole idea behind this conference is to unite and bring under one-roof youths from different parts of India.
Youths who speak different languages, youths facing diverse challenges, ideas and visions that are totally different
and ways to just get each one more closer to God. The whole program is planned in such a way that youngsters
do not find it as a session or lecture series, but rather, a life lesson and so the topics are chosen according
to the current life realities of young people. A relevant theme is chosen every time, that is central in all discussions.
All participants are divided into groups of 30-35 each comprising directors, animators and youth and provoked into discussions
by a specialized moderator, by answering a set of given questions based on the theme. In this they spend 3 hours every day
and deliberate on realities of young people today, their faith, aspirations, hopes and what role can the church play in their lives.
The discussions of this segment are compiled into what we have as the statement of the conference in order for the church in India to
listen to the youth and ponder over their thoughts.
In order to help the youth address their doubts and seek answers to their numerous questions,
"choice based Workshops" are planned on very specific topics, from which they can choose and attend
everyday based on their area of interest.
Moments of prayer and meditation such as the "Faith walk", "Taize prayer", "Eucharistic adoration" and confessions
witness soul touching and deep spiritual experiences in the lives of many. Casual interactions and meetings
over the dining table, in free time and back in the dormitories help youth witness the beauty of friendships,
community building and sharing of faith and testimonies.
Many participants also opt to partake in the "Days in Diocese" experience wherein they spend 2 days
before the conference with the families of youth in parishes of the host Diocese. In these moments,
they witness the lifestyle, hospitality, culture and faith of people. Together with the host families,
they travel places across the city, eat local foods, visit the parish and spend the Sunday with the youth group.
This is another opportunity to realise the beauty of inter-cultural faith and experience the uniqueness of the
culture of a different place.
Apart from this, all regions are given responsibilities for the liturgy,
morning and evening prayers and cultural exhibitions every day.
Youth also display their local cultures in stalls - costumes, foods, local site-seeing etc,
which facilitate a cultural exchange platform between the youth.
The key focus is "Friendship", "holistic formation” and "an experience of the beauty of the church" which are the
3 main objectives of the youth ministry.
